![]() Hello Parents and Students, I hope everyone had a great weekend. We started a new opinion writing topic last week. Students will brainstorm, rough draft, revise, edit, and publish thier writing. Students will send their writing to the appropriate person to see if he or she can connivence that person to change something about our school. Some of our topics students came up with were: 1. We should have different lunch choices in the Cafeteria. 2. Students need more playground equiptment. 3. We shouldn't have homework. Students chose the topic they liked best and started braistorming this week. Students will type thier published piece using Microsoft Word. Students also finished thier Science Space Brochures this week. They did a wonderful job, researching and finding the correct information for each section. We are on the 5 day count down to Thanksgiving Break! Fourth Grade is in need of a few more copy parents, click the link below to sign up: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0849a4a623a31-4thgrade Also continue to sign up for MALL DAY! MALL DAY is quickly approaching! Mall Day will be held on Friday, December 6th from 12:00-2:00. Students have been working on 4th grade economics standards through our mini-economy. They apply for and perform jobs, pay dues and fines, and earn money for various tasks in addition to their paycheck. To explore the concept of opportunity cost and budgeting, students will have the opportunity to spend some of their hard-earned money at MALL DAY! Each of the 4th grade classes along with the Science Lab and Computer Lab will be transformed! This incredible, memorable experience will be something your child will never forget! We can't do it without volunteers though! We do need a lot of assistance to make it happen, so please mark your calendars and sign up to volunteer at the link below. Make sure that you have your volunteer paperwork completed with the front office before Mall Day. It takes a few days for the paperwork to be approved, so get it done early if you haven't already! We will also need some items to make this experience come alive! You can find and sign up for those items below also.
I promise you won't regret volunteering! :-) Mall Day VOLUNTEER sign up Mall Day DONATIONS sign up Hello Parents and Students,
I hope everyone has a great weekend. This week was crazy because I was out a few days at Georgia Educational Technology Conference. I learned so much and can't wait to incorporate all the things I learned into our classroom. Students started on their Space projects this week. Students are using various types of technology and other resources to research for their project. Students worked on dictionary skills this week as well! Next week we will be working on ordering adjectives, continue our opinion writing, and work on our Space Projects. We are on the two week count down to Thanksgiving. Remind students what their behavior at school should look like. Below is a reminder of an amazing program that will help prepare your child for the GMAS that he or she will take in the Spring. Please consider downloading and working on typing at home! :) As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or comments, you can email me. I am also on Twitter! My Twitter handle is @MsKaraAdams. I tweet out the quizlets and lots of fun things we do in the classroom. "Great news! Sweet Apple has recently purchased a web based typing program called Type to Learn 4. Students can use this program at home and at school and it will be a valuable tool in preparation for the Georgia Milestone test (3-5), which we anticipating having a percentage of students taking this online." I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween! We will start on dictionary skills this week. This is vital skill students will always need, not only through 4th grade but the rest of their life. We will also start research this week. In science class students will be learning about different aspects of space. Students will bring that knowledge, along with other resources in our classroom to research space. In writing this week, students will continue writing on the opinion topic of their choice. Our goal this week is to get through the rough draft, revise, and edit stages. Just a few reminders: Sport Spirit Day is on the 7th. Dad's Breakfast is from 8-10:30 on the 8th. I will be out a few days this week. I have already talked with the students but if you could please reiterate to behave just as they would if I was there. That would be great!! Thanks! Also be on the look out for Mall Day information coming soon!! Thank you all for everything you do. I hope everyone has a first great week of November. Kara Adams |
