Hello Parents and Students,
I hope everyone had a great weekend. I had a blast at the Color Me Fun Run put on by our amazing Sweet Apple Relay for Life Team! Please make sure to review the green paper on the zoo with your child carefully. If you would like to coordinate carpools I encourage you to do so! If you have any questions please email me and I will answer your question or find the answer for you. I can't wait for our trip! This week students will have 50 minutes of reading homework and Wolfie's Challenge. We will be completing our PBL (Project Based Learning) assignment on Tybee Island Organisms this week. Students will present on Wednesday. Students have been working really hard to figure out how to help the organisms on Tybee. We will also complete a PBA (Project Based Assessment) this week. This will further prepare students for the Georgia Milestones. On Friday students will be working on a Zoo Story Board. Thank you, I hope everyone has a great week, Hello Parents and Students,
I hop everyone has had a great week. The weather has been lovely until today! We have enjoyed recess for sure! Next week we will be working on comparing and contrasting fairy tales, tall tales, or choice books. Students will also be working on finding the main idea or central message of non-fiction text. Students will be reading National Geographic Magazines next week to go along with our central message lesson and to tie into their Science standard (ecosystems). We will also look into revising and editing partner papers looking for transition words, hooks, conclusions, details, and conventions. Students have made great progress with their journal responses they have had for homework. I am pleased to see this. I know they will be ready for the test in the Spring! The zoo trip is fast approaching. We will be sending home more info towards the end of next week about what to bring and not bring on the trip. Thank you so much! I hope everyone has a wonderful Spring weekend! Ms. Kara Adams Hello Parents and Students,
I hope everyone had a great week! A few reminders as we head into the weekend. First today, Friday, March 13th is the last day I can take grades. I will be finalizing grades Sunday and Monday. The zoo field trip is only 2 1/2 weeks away. If you are going on the field trip as a spend the night chaperone, you must complete the Fulton County background check ASAP. It takes some time before it posts. Starting next week students will be doing Social Studies and Science vocabulary in reading/ELA class for their vocabulary every week. This will help students review SS and Sci. material. Instead of a packet, students will bring home their words with a menu choice board to complete for homework. Hopefully everyone has gotten into the swing of Wolfie's Challenge. If you have any questions please let me know. We will continue doing journal responses for homework as well. Next week we will start working on Tall Tale Reader's Theaters. Students will be placed in groups to workout their fluency and make props for their plays. Students will get to put on their reader's theater on Friday of next week to Mrs. Wilson's class. We will also be working on relative pronouns and adverbs. Students will also be creating a narrative using an informational passage next week. Again if you have any questions please feel free to email, call, or write in your child's agenda! Have a great weekend! Kara Hello Parents and Students,
I hope everyone had a wonderful spring weekend! I know I did! Last week we started Book Clubs with historical fiction texts. Students learned about Past, Present, and Future Progressive Verbs. We also looked at our Journal Response homework and decided how we can make our answers better. We will continue to do this through out the rest of the year. This week, students will continue to work on book clubs. We will be working on constructed response questions. Students will also learn about inferencing with non-fiction text. Students will also finish thier Reading/ELA Checkpoints this week. Homework this week students will read 100 minutes, complete constructed journal response (due Wednesday), and vocabulary packet. Below is some information about Wolfie's Challenge. Wolfie's Challenge: students will begin Wolfie's test prep challenge on Study Island. We are requiring this for 4th grade students -- it is for a grade. By April 14, students must complete 30 review quizzes on Study Island. There is a special incentive for completing 40 and a separate incentive for finishing before Spring Break. This is a homework project, so please create a plan with your child for dividing the tests out before the due date. Wolfie's Challenge Specifics: -Log in to SI and click on the class called "Wolfie's Challenge". -Select an assignment. When prompted to select options, students must answer AT LEAST 10 questions. -Game or Practice mode are both fine. - Only scores of 70% or above count towards the total 30. -Fill in test name, date, and score on the recording sheet. If you have any questions please let me know! I hope everyone has a great week! Kara Adams Hello Parents and Students,
I hope everyone had a good weekend! I know I did! This week we have Family Focus Night on Wednesday, therefore students don't have homework this Wednesday! This is time for families to spend quality time with each other. The homework this week is 75 minutes reading, journal response, and vocabulary packet. We will be using the same vocabulary packet from last week. I told students if they are finished with their packet to study and practice making sentences with their vocabulary words in context. This week students have started a new book club. Students have a choice of what book they would like to read on the Westward Expansion. The book choices are Dear America: Across the Wide and Lonesome Prairie, Blazing West, Little House on the Prairie, Mr. Tucket, and Sarah Plain and Tall. Students will be allowed to "check" these book out from me at the end of the day if they feel like they are behind in their reading. Along with book clubs, we will be continuing to work on comparing and contrasting in our writing. Students will also learn about progressive verbs this week. On Thursday, March 5th students will take the Reading ELA Checkpoints Part 1 in their reading block. Please have you child here on time, well rested, and fed. Thank you so much!! We will have our vocabulary quiz on Friday. As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns please let me know. Have a great week! Kara Adams |
